If you're planning a mommy makeover or other plastic surgery procedure, you might be wondering when is the best time for your procedure. Below, we'll look at why fall is considered the best season to plan your treatment.

What is a mommy makeover?

A mommy makeover is a highly customized set of aesthetic treatments that can help rejuvenate and slim your body from head to toe to help you reclaim your pre-pregnancy body. At Magnolia Plastic Surgery and MedSpa, Dr. Charvet offers both surgical and nonsurgical treatments, and will work closely with you to discuss your aesthetic goals and explore what's possible for your unique body.

Mommy makeovers may include the following treatments:

Is fall the best season for a mommy makeover?

Contouring the body with skin tightening and fat reduction methods can help moms reshape the areas altered by pregnancy weight gain, childbirth, and breastfeeding. Mommy makeovers even include skin treatments for hyperpigmentation and other discoloration.

While it's most important to schedule your mommy makeover once you're done breastfeeding and have no further pregnancy plans, the time of year you plan your procedures matters too. While back-to-school time may not seem like the most convenient part of the year to undergo plastic surgery, there are many personal benefits to choosing fall for a mommy makeover.

First, the recovery time from multiple procedures can be lengthy. Scheduling surgery in the fall will give you the cooler months to recover so your body is slim and sculpted by spring and summer, when you're more likely to show it off.

Since multiple surgeries and other aesthetic procedures can leave you swollen, sweater season is the perfect time to obscure the signs of aesthetic treatments (not that there's anything to be ashamed of!).

Fall and winter also tend to be less active seasons. While the amount of downtime you'll need to recover will vary based on your procedures, the back-to-school season will allow you peace and quiet to focus on healing and being inside the house.

What is it like to recover from a mommy makeover?

The length of your recovery will depend entirely on the procedures you choose. You may need 3 – 6 months to recover from invasive surgeries, and some treatments can take up to nine months to show full results.

By scheduling your mommy makeover during the fall, you'll likely be in your best pre-pregnancy shape by summer. By June or July, it's unlikely you'll have any activity limitations that might prevent you from enjoying summer.
