Mommy Makeover
Pregnancy and childbirth are among a woman’s most amazing, life-changing experiences. However, these intense processes will inevitably alter the tightness and shape of various body parts, leaving a woman feeling unlike herself. Deflated breasts, excess skin, and unwanted fat can mar your self-image. Furthermore, many women struggle to lose weight after one or more pregnancies, despite breastfeeding, diet, and exercise.
Fortunately, getting a slim and toned body is possible with Mommy Makeover surgery. Many mothers reclaim their confidence, self-esteem, and figure with this highly sought-after cosmetic surgery. You shouldn’t have to sacrifice your youth and beauty to take part in the joys of motherhood–you can, and should, have it all! At Magnolia Plastic Surgery Dr. Heath Charvet is dedicated to providing women with stunning results that make them feel happy and comfortable in their own skin.
What Is a Mommy Makeover?
A Mommy Makeover is a combination of body contouring procedures designed to help restore a woman’s body to its pre-pregnancy shape and tone. Depending on her aesthetic goals, a patient can choose from various skin tightening and fat reduction methods to reshape the breasts, stomach, buttocks, and thighs, or virtually any area affected by pregnancy weight gain or nursing. In addition, nonsurgical procedures can address issues such as hyperpigmentation or discoloration, such as stretch marks.
What Are the Benefits of a Mommy Makeover?
Your Mommy Makeover is a full body transformation that targets your problem areas and revamps them for an improved aesthetic and function. Common benefits patients enjoy include:
- Firmer, more elevated breasts
- Restored breast volume
- A tight, slim waist
- Repair separated abdominal muscles
- Minimization of stretch marks and loose skin
- Renewed confidence in your figure
- Look amazing in whatever clothes you wear
- Multiple cosmetic procedures, only one healing period
Am I a Candidate for a Mommy Makeover?
Good candidates for a Mommy Makeover should be in good physical health, not smoke, and have realistic expectations. Combining procedures is an excellent way to consolidate recovery times and reduce costs if you’d like to address multiple areas of the body.
It’s important to remember that before undergoing Mommy Makeover surgeries, it’s key to have already decided against having more children, as a future pregnancy could undo the results of this procedure.

What Are My Mommy Makeover Options?
The Mommy Makeover is completely customizable according to your goals. Most women desire breast enhancement surgery (an augmentation, lift, or both), plus a tummy tuck and liposuction, which garners beautiful, transformative results. The following are some of the most popular options for a Mommy Makeover, but you can discuss the specifics of your procedure with Dr. Charvet at your consultation.
Breast Lift
No matter what your breasts looked like before, pregnancy and breastfeeding one or more children can leave you with sagging breasts and stretched nipples. If you feel distressed at the sight of your breasts when you look in the mirror, you are not alone! A breast lift removes excess skin and tissue and repositions the breasts to sit higher on the chest. Breast lift surgery can also resize the nipple-areolar complex and reposition the areola to face forward instead of down. The result is a lifted, youthful bustline.
Breast Augmentation
Many women lose volume in their breasts after pregnancy and breastfeeding. Breast augmentation uses implants to restore volume to the breasts. Since this procedure does not lift, many patients choose to combine their breast augmentation with a breast lift for ultimate breast enhancement.
Tummy Tuck
Loose skin and excess fat in the abdomen are, understandably, extremely common after a woman undergoes pregnancy and childbirth. A tummy tuck is designed to remove extra skin and fat for a smooth, flat stomach. Tummy tuck surgery can also address diastasis recti or separated abdominal muscles, which is another common effect of pregnancy.
Liposuction
One of the most popular body contouring procedures, liposuction, is highly modifiable. It’s often performed alongside a tummy tuck, but can be applied almost anywhere on the body, including the flanks, back, thighs, and more. Dr. Charvet uses advanced liposuction techniques to sculpt your body to perfection.
Labiaplasty
The process of childbirth can negatively impact your most intimate area. Some women have always had enlarged labia minora (inner lips of the external vulva), while some experience enlarged or asymmetrical labia after giving birth. This can cause issues with physical discomfort, exercise, sexual intimacy, and hygiene. A labiaplasty is a quick and effective procedure where oversized labia are minimized, resulting in smaller, more symmetrical, more comfortable labia, and increased confidence.
Nonsurgical Mommy Makeover Options
Pregnancy and childbirth can take a toll on your body, which is why nonsurgical treatments aren’t usually enough to produce the results you want. During your consultation, you and Dr. Charvet can discuss both surgical and nonsurgical treatments. He can determine if nonsurgical options are viable pathways to your goal. Some of these treatments include:
- Accufit, for diastasis recti and core strengthening
- Genius RF Microneedling for skin tightening
- VASER and Renuvion for skin tightening
What Is Mommy Makeover Recovery Like?
Dr. Charvet identifies two key phases of recovery: acute and internal.
Acute Recovery
This stage generally lasts 7 to 10 days. During this period, you’ll experience the most noticeable effects of surgery, including swelling, bruising, and discomfort. Rest is essential, but gentle movement is encouraged to promote circulation. You can expect to walk with a slight bend at the waist to avoid straining your incisions. Depending on the procedures in your Mommy Makeover, you may need a surgical bra or compression garment to support healing and optimize results. Directly after surgery, you will need someone to drive you home, and you will not be able to lift your children or perform strenuous activities. It’s important to arrange for assistance from a friend or family member during this time.
Internal Recovery
This stage extends up to six weeks post-surgery and is when most of the deep healing and scar formation take place. Proper care of your incision sites is vital to promote optimal scar healing. Strenuous activity should still be avoided. Compression is required throughout this time, and recommended intermittently for six months. By the end of this stage, 85-90% of swelling is resolved. Remaining swelling, or residual swelling, will dissipate over six months after surgery.
After six weeks, all activity restrictions are lifted. Dr. Charvet will provide you with detailed post-operative instructions to follow at home. Throughout both recovery stages, your progress will be closely monitored during follow-up appointments.
When Can I See My Mommy Makeover Results?
Your Mommy Makeover results are immediate and will continue to improve over time. As swelling and bruising subside, your rejuvenated breasts and slimmer figure will become increasingly apparent. This improvement will continue for up to a year after surgery.
Your results will be long-lasting, but it’s important to maintain them with a healthy lifestyle. Most patients don’t have an issue with this; however, a Mommy Makeover can be life-changing for women, creating a newfound love for their bodies once again.
How Much Does a Mommy Makeover Cost?
Due to the highly customizable nature of Mommy Makeover surgery, the cost varies greatly from patient to patient. The average price of a Mommy Makeover depends on the combination of procedures selected, as well as factors like anesthesia and facility fees, and post-operative garments.
We invite you for a consultation appointment to get an exact price and learn about financing options!
