What Is a Neck Lift?

Do you wear turtlenecks or scarves the whole year to conceal the loose skin on your neck? Plastic surgeon Dr. Heath Charvet performs neck lift surgery to eliminate the appearance of an aging neckline. This facial surgery reshapes and tightens the section on the underside of your chin and the entire neck to remove a “double chin” or “turkey neck.” By surgically excising the excess skin and fat while using a tightening technique to produce a smoother, natural neckline, this lower facial surgery at Magnolia Plastic Surgery and MedSpa can provide significant enhancements to your profile. Reviews

“I had a tummy tuck, neck lift, breast lift and liposuction. Dr. Charvet and Dr. Chua did an amazing job! They made me feel very comfortable. I am 8 days out and I’m still pretty swollen but can already see the results and can’t wait to show off my summer body! I feel amazing and it’s getting better every day! If you are considering plastic surgery I have complete confidence and trust and would see them again for any other procedures in the future! Highly recommend! Thank you guys so much!!!!”

How Is a Neck Lift Performed?

During a neck lift, general anesthesia is typically used. An incision is placed around your ears, and another one may also be made under your chin. If isolated areas of fat exist, liposuction will be completed. Next, any sagging or hanging skin will be trimmed away, and the underlying tissue and remaining skin will be pulled tight. This technique is conducted until the desired shape and contour have been attained. Although sutures are placed at the incision area, scarring should not be visible since they were placed under your chin. Furthermore, other nonsurgical alternatives can help the skin’s texture and surface, such as a chemical peel, to produce a vibrantly glowing appearance. After neck lift surgery, you will most likely experience some bruising, swelling, and moderate discomfort, but these will dissipate in a few days. You should rest and try to avoid exercise or strenuous activities for several weeks to assist in the recovery. While recovering, fitted tops should be avoided. You should notice visible differences almost immediately.

Neck Lift FAQ

How much does a neck lift cost?

Before giving you a cost estimate for your neck lift surgery, Dr. Charvet will learn more about your treatment goals and develop a personalized surgical plan. After that point, we can estimate costs for the procedure, which will include anesthesia, facility costs, and more. To make your neck surgery affordable, Magnolia Plastic Surgery and MedSpa takes several payments methods, and we can tell you more about how to get low-interest medical financing.

What about nonsurgical options?

Neck lift surgery is the only option to remove excess skin around the neckline, especially if it hangs or droops. Although there are several nonsurgical skin tightening treatments that may produce some improvements, neck lift surgery offers the most significant improvements to smooth and redefine your neckline.

Will I have visible scars?

Your neck lift will start with an incision under the chin and two more close to the ears. However, these are placed so they are very difficult for others to see. Dr. Charvet makes every effort during your surgery to limit visible scarring. You will also be given recovery instructions that will help your incisions heal properly so they are discreet.

Can I combine a neck lift with other facial surgeries?

We welcome you to ask Dr. Charvet and our team about other cosmetic facial surgeries you’re considering. We offer a wide selection of aesthetic surgery options at Magnolia Plastic Surgery and MedSpa, including facelifts, brow lifts, chin augmentation, and more. It is normal for these additional procedures to be done together to get the best results. If you are concerned about a weak chin or undefined jawline, talk to Dr. Charvet so he can develop a plan that meets all your goals.

Should I get a neck lift or liposuction?

Based on your concerns and goals, you might want to combine a neck lift with liposuction. A lift plus lipo can be best if you are concerned about both excessive skin and fat pockets in your neck. Dr. Charvet will help you decide whether a lift, liposuction, or a combination of both should be included in your surgical plan.
